Choose the Installation Location

Identify a suitable spot for the door mount. Ensure there is adequate vertical space for the block-off panel to be lifted out completely.

Position the rough opening at least 3 inches away from the edge of the door to maintain its structural integrity.

Trace the Opening

Place the flange of the pet door against the door and trace its perimeter with a pencil. This outline will serve as the dimensions for the rough opening.

Cut the Opening

For Wood Doors:

Drill two diagonal corners using a ⅞-inch paddle bit or a 5/16-inch regular bit. If using a regular bit, drill three close-together holes and elongate them until connected to insert the reciprocating saw blade.

Carefully cut along the traced lines to create the opening.

For Metal Doors:

Follow the same instructions as for wood doors but use a blade specifically designed for cutting metal.

Prepare the Door Frames

Separate the interior and exterior frames of the pet door. Remove the block-off panel from the inner frame.

Insert and Align Frames

Insert the inner frame (the one with the block-off panel) into the cut opening from the interior side of the door.

Align the exterior frame on the opposite side, sleeving the two frames together to fit securely around the door.

Secure the Frames

Using the pre-drilled pilot holes and the supplied drill bit, insert one screw to temporarily hold the frames in place. Ensure the pet door is level before tightening the screw completely.

Insert and tighten the remaining screws using the pilot holes as guides. For added security, use the provided One-Way Security Screws or Phillips head screws.

Seal the Edges

After installation, fill any gaps or seal the edges with caulking to enhance weatherproofing and prevent drafts.

General Use Information

1. Block-Off Panel Operation

2. To secure the block-off panel, slide it into place and fasten it using the pin lock.
3. When removing the panel, gently pull the pin lock inward while lifting the panel. This ensures the tight-fitting panel does not touch the unit’s frame during removal, preserving the panel and lock mechanism.

Using the Pin Lock

To Retract: Pull on the knob and turn it clockwise (right) approximately a quarter turn to retract the lock.

To Lock: Continue turning the knob another quarter turn to extend the lock into the locked position using spring tension.

Important: Do not turn the knob counterclockwise (left), as this will loosen the pin lock and render it inoperable.

Thumbscrew Maintenance

The flaps are secured with factory-tightened thumbscrews. With regular use, these screws may loosen over time.

Regularly check the thumbscrews for tightness and retighten them as needed using the included Allen wrench.

Magnet Adjustment

The pet door features adjustable magnets to ensure a precise seal, regardless of weather conditions or flap size changes over time.

The magnets are pressure-fitted into an aluminum carrier within the frame rail. To adjust the magnet, use pliers to gently lift it out of the frame rail. Cover the magnet and carrier with a towel to prevent scratching during this process.

Only lift the magnet enough to make contact with the strike plate on the flap.

If the magnet carrier becomes loose, pry the two legs of the magnet apart slightly and reinsert it into the frame rail.

Proper magnet adjustment is achieved when there is zero airspace between the magnet and the strike plate.
